A Direct Humanitarian Outreach

HOMELESS SUPPORT &
STREET REHABILITATION

Feeding · Clothing · Prayer · Counseling · Women's Support

"Compassion in Action. Hope in Motion."

On the streets of our cities live people who have been overlooked, excluded and forgotten — men, women and children whose circumstances do not define their worth. We go to them. We see them. We serve them. Because no one is beyond help, and no one should be forgotten.

SCROLL

See the Person.
Meet the Need.
Restore the Dignity.

The people we meet on the streets face complex, overlapping challenges — poverty, unemployment, family breakdown, addiction, mental illness, abuse and loss. Behind every circumstance is a human being with a name, a history and a hope that has too often been buried by survival.

Our response begins simply: we meet people where they are. Not with judgement. Not with conditions. With a hot meal, clean clothing, a listening ear, a prayer, and a pathway forward.

"Every person on the street is somebody's daughter, somebody's father, somebody's child — and they are all somebody to us."
👀

We See

We look past the circumstance and recognise the person — their dignity, their story, their potential.

🤝

We Meet

We respond to immediate needs first — food, clothing, hygiene, safety — because survival comes before everything.

🌿

We Restore

We walk with each person toward counselling, skills, family, work and home — until independence is real.

💬

We Advocate

We raise national awareness so that homelessness is met with compassion and solutions, not stigma and indifference.

♥ Part of The Remember Me Project

One Movement. Many Hands. Every Person Remembered.

The Homeless Support & Street Rehabilitation Programme is the frontline expression of the Remember Me Project — WATWZ's national commitment to restoring dignity, rebuilding lives and renewing hope for people living on the streets. Street outreach is where the journey begins; the Remember Me pathway carries it all the way home.

Five Core Pillars of Care

Every outreach is built on five commitments — meeting urgent needs today while opening the door to restoration tomorrow.

01
🍽
"Because no one should go to sleep hungry."

Feeding Programme

Hunger is the most immediate crisis on the street. Our teams prepare and serve hot, nutritious meals at outreach points — often the first reliable food a person receives that day.

  • Hot, freshly prepared meals served on-site
  • Fruit and fresh water at every outreach
  • Emergency nutrition packs for the most vulnerable

"Dignity can begin with clean clothing."

Clothing Support

Clean, well-fitting clothing restores more than warmth — it restores self-respect. We distribute donated and purchased clothing, shoes and blankets directly to those who need them most.

  • Clean clothing and shoes for men, women and children
  • Blankets for cold nights
  • Warm clothing drives during the cold season

🧴
"Dignity, privacy and care."

Hygiene & Women's Health

For women and girls on the street, managing basic hygiene is a daily struggle carried out with little privacy and less support. We provide essentials that protect health and dignity.

  • Sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene supplies
  • Soap, toothbrushes and washing essentials
  • Hygiene education delivered with respect and privacy

🙏
"Hope matters."

Prayer & Spiritual Support

Material aid feeds the body; hope feeds the soul. Our teams offer prayer, encouragement and motivational teaching to everyone who wants it — always by invitation, never by condition.

  • Prayer and personal encouragement on the street
  • Motivational teaching and words of hope
  • A reminder to every person: you are not forgotten

"Beyond survival. Toward restoration."

Counselling & Rehabilitation

Lasting change requires more than relief — it requires healing. Through trained counsellors and trusted partners, we walk with individuals from crisis toward stability and recovery.

  • Trauma-informed counselling and psychosocial support
  • Addiction recovery referrals to professional partners
  • Ongoing mentorship through every step of the journey

Standing With Women and Young Mothers

Women make up a growing share of those living on the street — many of them young mothers fleeing abuse, widowhood, abandonment or economic collapse. Their vulnerability is unique, and so must our response be.

Our women's support stream provides gender-specific care within every outreach: hygiene and menstrual health supplies, safe spaces to talk, dedicated female volunteers and counsellors, and priority pathways into shelter, skills training and family reunification.

Sanitary pads and menstrual hygiene kits distributed at every outreach
Female-led counselling and confidential support conversations
Priority referral into safe shelter and protection services
Skills and livelihood pathways for young mothers rebuilding with children
👩

Her Dignity Is Non-Negotiable

A woman on the street is not a statistic. She is a mother doing everything she can, a daughter who deserves protection, a human being whose circumstances should never cost her dignity. We show up for her — month after month — until her story changes.

A Child's Circumstances Should Not Define Their Future.

Street-connected children are among the most vulnerable people in Zambia. They deserve childhood — school, play, safety and love. Wherever we find children during outreach, their needs move to the front of the line.

🏫

Education First

We connect street-connected children with schooling support, learning materials and partners who specialise in returning children to the classroom.

🏀

Childhood Restored

Meals, play, mentorship and moments of joy — because a child on the street is still a child, and childhood is worth protecting.

🏠

Safety & Family

Through child-protection partners we pursue trace-and-reunify work, placing children with family or safe care wherever it is possible and safe.

Programme Target

From One City to the Whole Nation

These are programme targets — the scale we are committed to reaching as funding and partnerships grow. Every figure represents a person seen, served and remembered.

2025 — PILOT PHASE
1,000
People Reached Per Month

Pilot operations centred in Lusaka — regular street outreaches delivering meals, clothing, hygiene support, prayer and counselling while building the assessment and referral systems for scale.

2026 — NATIONAL ROLLOUT
16,000
People Per Cycle

Expansion across 160 districts nationwide — taking the full outreach-to-reintegration pathway from the capital to every province, in partnership with local leaders and communities.

Figures shown are Programme Targets, not audited results. Progress updates will be published as rollout advances.

Where It All Began

📅 July 2025 — Cairo Road, Lusaka

The Homeless Support & Street Rehabilitation Programme was born on the pavements of Cairo Road. On a single July morning, WATWZ volunteers set up tables, cooked through the night, and served hot meals to hundreds of people who are usually walked past.

300 Hot Meals Served

Freshly cooked and distributed to people living and working on the streets of Cairo Road — many receiving their only proper meal that day.

A Team That Stayed

Beyond the food, volunteers sat, listened, prayed and talked — beginning the relationships that would shape the programme's person-centred approach.

A Commitment Made

The overwhelming need witnessed that day confirmed the vision: this would not be a one-off event, but a sustained programme of monthly outreach and structured rehabilitation.

What We Believe. What We Promise.

These convictions govern every decision we make — on the street and behind the scenes.

Dignity Is For Everyone

We believe every human being — regardless of circumstance, addiction or history — carries inherent, unshakeable dignity. Our service reflects that belief in every interaction.

👀

Vulnerability Demands Response

The most vulnerable among us are not someone else's problem. They are our neighbours, and their need is our invitation to act.

🌱

Children Come First

No child should grow up on the street. Wherever children are found, their protection, education and future lead our priorities.

👩

Women Deserve Specific Care

Women and girls on the street face dangers and needs that demand a dedicated, sensitive and sustained response — and they will always receive one from us.

🌿

Rebuilding Is Always Possible

We have never met a person beyond hope. With patience, consistency and love, lives can be rebuilt — and we commit to walking the whole journey, not just the first mile.

COMPASSION IN ACTION.
HOPE IN MOTION.
DIGNITY RESTORED.

Somewhere on a street tonight, someone is cold, hungry and convinced they've been forgotten. Prove them wrong. Join the movement that shows up — with food, with clothing, with prayer, with a plan — until every person is home.
